Holcombe Active Cycling Group
The idea for a cycling group connected to Holcombe Active Sports Therapy came about from two directions. First, from the growing number of clients who come to the sports injury clinic who have indicated a love of cycling and feel that cycling in a group would be a motivating factor. There are also clients who know that cycling would be beneficial to their rehabilitation from injury and are presently forced to abstain from their beloved sport of running.
Secondly there are my personal friends who simply enjoy cycling and yet feel no need to belong to a formal cycling club. Besides cycling for fun and to improve/maintain fitness some of this group completed C2C in the summer of ’06. In 2007 group members completed the Manchester to Blackpool, the 'Manchester 100' and the 'Lancashire Loop' charity events.
In 2008 members have completed the 'Ride of The Roses 100' and the 'Cambrian Challenge'. The group will continue to meet throughout the autumn and winter months with a variety of road and off road routes with an eye on Lands End to John O'Groats in the spring of '09.
